Leadership Intiative
The Volunteer Musicians for the Arts (VMA) is certified by the federal government to confer President’s Volunteer Service Awards. Junior Program (JVMA) members who complete our Leadership Initiative receive PVSA. Students must be United States citizens / resident aliens. Elementary, Middle, and High School students are all encouraged to join. Get inspired, get involved, and we’re here to get you recognized.
Become a Volunteer
Getting involved with senior centers, assisted living facilities, shelters, schools, and community orchestras, are some of the ways our Junior Program volunteers live the VMA mission. We partner with teaching studios and schools who encourage excellence in the performing arts. If you believe your talent deserves to be heard in places that need hope the most, we hope you join our team.
Join The Circle
The Circle is comprised of classical music educators who encourage and support their students in community outreach venues. It takes 2 minutes to apply and teachers earn referral fees for enrolled Leadership Initiative students. Students can perform outreach in their very own community, anywhere in the country, and earn presidential recognition. When you’re in The Circle, we grow together.
About Us
Founder and Director, Volunteer Musicians for the Arts, Inc.
In 2012, the Volunteer Musicians for the Arts, Inc. officially formed as a Massachusetts nonprofit organization. We soon recruited exceptional graduate degree students to perform the greatest chamber music masterpieces for patients, visitors, and staff passing through the Cancer Center and main lobby of Massachusetts General Hospital. As we grew in numbers, so did the nationwide ripple effect of our Boston-based volunteer team, with Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory incorporating our volunteer model into their current academic curriculum.
With over 10 years of public service experience propelling us forward, the VMA invites you to join us on our journey. We are committed to building a legacy of compassionate leaders and that legacy begins with you.
Jonathan Yasuda, Founder and Director of Volunteer Musicians for the Arts, is a pianist, volunteer coordinator, and piano faculty lecturer for music academies and higher education institutions.
