The VMA Ripple Effect
In the summer of 2015, the VMA gave a concert that inspired a cancer patient to bring the VMA outreach performance spirit back home to Baltimore, Maryland — and into the academic curriculum of The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.
I was a cancer patient undergoing a clinical trial treatment at Mass General in Boston. One day, after a particularly difficult treatment, I heard music coming from somewhere in the hospital. I followed the sound and came upon your wonderful concert in the lobby. It was such a meaningful moment for me as a musician to hear music from a patient's perspective that it inspired me to start this project at my school a year later . . . THANK YOU for the most transformative gift your concert gave to me!
The Peabody String Sinfonia continues to thrive today.
