A Message from Our Founder
Thirteen years ago, I founded Volunteer Musicians for the Arts (VMA) because I knew—and still know—that there are far too many exceptionally gifted, classically trained musicians who can make a real difference in this world.
Everyone needs a place to call home. I envisioned an organization of **top-notch volunteers—talented and good-willed—**that could serve as a lightning rod, uniting musicians whose music speaks louder than words.
VMA exists for anyone ready to dip a toe into classical performance outreach: coming together under one roof, striving for excellence, and discovering the joy of service that awakens the soul.
As a high school senior, I performed at a nursing home for community service. I never imagined that decades later I’d be creating opportunities for the next generation of musicians to share that same transformative experience.
When you support VMA, you empower a growing network of world-class mentors and Junior Program members—students from families of all income levels—who bring music to audiences in need across the country.
With every young musician comes the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
Let’s keep lighting up the world with our song.
With gratitude and hope,
Jonathan Yasuda
