September

Program Kickoff & Enrollment

Students join the Junior Program and begin planning outreach goals for the year.
October – May

Monthly Leadership Workshops

Workshops are held on select Sundays from 2:00–3:00 PM EST to support outreach planning and leadership development.
October – June

Outreach Performances

Students perform in nursing homes and community spaces throughout the year, with a minimum of two concerts for Leadership Initiative participants.
December 6 (Boston Area)

Holiday Concert

Annual VMA holiday performance for Boston-area members, bringing students together for a community celebration.
January – March

Winter Outreach & Growth

Continued outreach performances and leadership development as students expand their impact.
March 16 – June 1

National Student Government Elections

Nominations and elections for national Student Government leadership positions take place during this period.

Club Leadership Nominations & Elections

Student Government nominations and elections for school-based VMA clubs are held on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Senator Applications

Applications for National Leadership Fellowship (State Senator appointments) are accepted on a rolling basis.

Year-End Completion

Final outreach concerts are completed and Leadership Initiative requirements are fulfilled.

Summer Recital Series

End-of-year recital series for Boston-area members celebrating student impact and community engagement.

Office Hours & Orientation

Office hours are available weekly by appointment and are hosted by Student Government leaders. Orientation sessions for new families are offered monthly.
