Sweet Sounds of Service is the Volunteer Musicians for the Arts’ annual campaign supporting student leadership and service through music.
At the heart of this work is Music for Meals, Shelters, and Healing.
Funds raised support food pantries, shelters, and healing music programs while sustaining student-led outreach that brings live music into communities.

Since 2025, We've Come This Far
Since launching the Sweet Sounds of Service campaign in 2025, our community has helped raise more than $16,000 to support student outreach, leadership development, and community partnerships. Our next milestone is $25,000 by 2027 as we continue expanding opportunities for young musicians to serve others through music.
Over halfway to our next major milestone.
Every contribution helps young musicians bring live classical music into communities while learning that music can serve others. Together, we are building the next chapter of the VMA's impact.
Music in the Community
When young musicians share their music in community spaces, the impact extends far beyond the performance itself. Residents gather around the piano, families listen together, and familiar melodies bring back memories.
Through Volunteer Musicians for the Arts, students discover that the music they practice every day can bring comfort, joy, and connection to others.
“We had a fantastic workshop that lasted around two hours with residents on the first floor of our Newton store. It was the first time I did something like that and it was really fulfilling.” — Patrick Elisha, Vice President, M. Steinert & Sons
