Club officers and national student leaders are elected by their peers, while State Senators are selected through the National Leadership Fellowship application.

Communications & Media

Students may serve in leadership roles that support communications, publicity, and media initiatives. These roles help share the impact of student outreach and promote programs nationwide.

Outreach & Programs

Program leaders help coordinate outreach concerts, identify community venues, and support student performers across the VMA network.

Fundraising & Partnerships

These roles support the Sweet Sounds of Service campaign and help develop partnerships that sustain outreach initiatives and student programs.

Recruitment & Club Development

Student leaders help expand the VMA network by encouraging new students, teachers, and schools to participate in service through music.

National Committees

Students may also serve on national committees that support fundraising, outreach planning, membership growth, and program development.

Fundraising Thresholds

Each leadership role includes a minimum fundraising requirement that supports outreach programs and community initiatives organized by Volunteer Musicians.

Eligibility

Students may run for leadership positions even if they are still working toward their fundraising requirement. However, elected leaders must complete the requirement within the designated timeframe to serve in their role.

Service Through Music

Leadership positions are designed to help students grow as musicians and community leaders by organizing performances that bring music to those who need it most.

Submit a Leadership Nomination

Students may nominate themselves or other members for club or national leadership positions. Candidates will submit a short campaign statement that may be shared on the official election ballot.
