The Giving Society Concert Series creates special opportunities for members of The Cynthia Yasuda Annual Giving Society to experience and participate in the VMA Foundation's mission through intimate concerts, community engagement, and donor appreciation events.
Giving Society Fundraiser Concert

This December, the VMA Foundation will present the first Cynthia Yasuda Giving Society Fundraiser Concert as part of the year-end season of generosity. Bringing together young musicians, families, donors, and supporters, this event will celebrate the power of music, service, and philanthropy while raising support for the mission of the VMA Foundation.

Throughout the year, the Giving Society Concert Series will create recurring opportunities for young musicians to participate in intimate outreach performances and for members of The Cynthia Yasuda Annual Giving Society to experience the VMA Foundation's mission in action.
As opportunities become available, a limited number of students may be invited to participate in VMA concerts at Maplewood at Weston. These performances provide young musicians with a meaningful opportunity to share their music, serve residents, and experience the impact of community outreach firsthand.
Because these concerts are intentionally small and participation opportunities are limited, Giving Society members receive priority registration for eligible opportunities before registration is opened more broadly.
In this way, the Giving Society Concert Series connects philanthropy directly with participation—bringing together donors, families, students, and community members through the shared experience of music and service.
How the Giving Society Concert Series Works
A recurring opportunity for young musicians to share their music, serve residents, and participate in thoughtfully prepared community concerts.
Beginning on Sunday, December 6th at 2pm, the Giving Society Concert Series will begin offering monthly student participation opportunities at Maplewood at Weston. Concerts are expected to continue throughout 2027 on every 3rd Saturday (2-3pm), creating recurring opportunities for young musicians to perform and serve through music.

Each concert is prepared as a complete program for the assisted living community. Rather than functioning as an open recital, the program is thoughtfully organized around the students who are accepted to participate, allowing the VMA Foundation to create a cohesive and meaningful concert experience for residents.
What Participation Looks Like
Students register for an available concert opportunity.
Accepted students are incorporated into the concert program based on the needs and structure of that particular performance.
Students requiring piano accompaniment participate in a brief rehearsal approximately 45 minutes before the concert.
Students join the complete concert program and share their music with Maplewood residents.
Students who require piano accompaniment may be asked to pay a $50 accompaniment fee upon acceptance into the respective concert. Students requiring accompaniment will also participate in a brief rehearsal approximately 45 minutes before the concert begins.
Priority Registration & Participation
Giving Society membership provides advance access to select Concert Series opportunities throughout the year.
Because many Giving Society Concert Series events and student participation opportunities have limited capacity, registration may be offered to members of The Cynthia Yasuda Annual Giving Society before opportunities are opened more broadly.
When advance registration is offered, members may receive access in order of their Annual Giving Society recognition level, beginning with President's Circle members and continuing through Legacy Circle, Benefactor, Patron, and Friend members. Registration may then open more broadly if opportunities remain available.
