National Leadership Fellowship

Now Appointing Student Senators

Two outstanding students from every state outside Massachusetts will be selected as VMA National Leadership Fellows and will serve as Junior Program Senators. Each Fellow will receive a full scholarship to the Gold Level Leadership Initiative.

As Senators, they’ll lead from the front—representing their state, collaborating with the national Board, and championing classical music as a powerful force for service and connection across the country.

Help Us Build a Nation of Service Through Classical Music.

50 States.

100 Senators.

Because everyone deserves orchestra seats.

Lead your state.

The VMA National Leadership Fellowship is a transformative opportunity for young musicians to step into a national spotlight as changemakers in their communities. These Fellows don’t just participate—they lead. They represent their state’s voice as Senators, collaborate directly with the national Board, and inspire classically trained students to serve through music.

Any student—elementary through high school—can join the Junior Program for free, start a school club, proudly call themselves a VMA member, and bring music into their community.

But our Fellows go further.

Fellows are chosen not only for their musicianship, but for their leadership: their ability to connect with peers, mentor others, and help grow a movement to make orchestra seats available to everyone.

High school Fellows also participate in virtual leadership workshops led by VMA faculty and guest speakers from the worlds of music, service, and civic leadership.

Will you help build something bigger than yourself?
