From Watertown to the World Stage: David Tagge’s Music in Service

First Place Award Recipient, Miclot International Music Competition

David’s outreach began simply and consistently: providing dinner music at a local care home. What started as a regular act of service became a meaningful way to connect with residents, create moments of calm and joy, and understand the power of live music in community settings. He continues to return to these spaces whenever possible, using performance as a way to serve.

Alongside his outreach, David has earned national recognition as a performer, winning competitions that have led him to stages such as Lincoln Center, with an upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall. Through it all, he has remained grounded in service, believing that music’s greatest impact often happens offstage.

Through the VMA Leadership Initiative, David has earned both the VMA National Service Award – Silver and Gold Levels, and has raised significant funds in support of the VMA’s Sweet Sounds of Service campaign. His fundraising has helped sustain outreach concerts and expand access to live music in communities that need it most.

As David puts it, “Music brings people together. Raising funds for a good cause makes the difference.” His journey reflects that belief—pairing musical excellence with compassion, leadership, and generosity. As he prepares for the next chapter beyond his senior year, we look forward to the continued impact he will make through music, service, and leadership.

David performs outside the concert hall because he believes everyone deserves orchestra seats.
