Your Voice, Your Vision: Explore the First VMA Student Government Nomination Form

How will you bring the VMA vision to your school and community?

The Path to Leadership

The first step toward building a VMA democracy has arrived. We are excited to announce that the nomination form for our inaugural Student Government is now officially available for you to explore.

While the general window to submit individual nomination forms opens in May, we are making the form available now so members can prepare, plan, and envision your role in our school’s future. To keep everyone on track, including parents, we will post monthly reminders in newsletters leading up to the election.

Key Dates & Flexibility for Clubs

Mark your calendars for the road ahead, but please note that school clubs have a bit more flexibility in the process:

  • Now – April: Explore the form and begin your service projects.

  • School Clubs: Starting a club or running for reelection? Submit your nominations at any time starting now!

  • May: Official submission period opens for all other government roles, i.e., state and national.

  • June: Student Government Elections begin.

Kickstart Your "Sweet Sounds of Service" Fundraiser

To ensure our leaders are community-focused, candidates must meet specific nomination thresholds (ranging from $25 to $250).

If you haven't started fundraising yet, now is the perfect time to launch your 'Sweet Sounds of Service' project. Whether you work individually or as a team, your fundraising efforts qualify you for a spot on the ballot. Starting now gives you several months to reach your goal comfortably before the May deadline.

Understanding the Roles

Not sure which position is right for you? We have posted a brief explanation of all Student Government roles on our website to help you find your best fit.

You can find the full breakdown of responsibilities—from executive leadership to department representatives—on the dedicated Student Government page.

Pro Tip: Visit the Student Government page to understand the roles, then use the nomination form to map out your "Sweet Sounds of Service" strategy.

Propsective candidates: We encourage you to discover the role that best fits you, as there is a place for everyone in our organization. If you’re unsure what a specific role entails, please reach out! Let’s build something beautiful together.
