Bringing Down the House
After weeks of dedicated rehearsals, the VMA California Club celebrated an important milestone with its first public outreach performance at the Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles.
The students’ music brought warmth and joy to children receiving care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and their families, offering a moment of comfort and connection. For the performers, this concert marked the transition from practice to purpose—using music to serve the community.
We are proud of the VMA California Club under the leadership of cellist and VMA Senator, Ronnie Wang (freshman), for beginning their outreach journey with compassion and care, and we look forward to the many meaningful performances ahead.

Why Music Matters
For families navigating serious illness, moments of calm and beauty can be deeply meaningful. Live music has the ability to soothe, uplift, and create a brief sense of normalcy amid long days shaped by medical appointments and difficult decisions. Outreach performances at places like Ronald McDonald House are not traditional concerts; they are acts of presence, empathy, and care.
Our students approach these performances with sensitivity and intention, understanding that service through music means meeting people where they are and offering something meaningful without expectation.
Kids helping each other through music is a beautiful act of kindness.
A Meaningful Opportunity for Our Members
This outreach performance reflects our ongoing commitment to compassionate leadership and community engagement. By performing at Ronald McDonald House, our Los Angeles team is learning firsthand how the arts can support healing environments—by offering comfort to families, honoring their experiences, and contributing positively to spaces rooted in care and resilience.
We are grateful to Ronald McDonald House for welcoming our students and for the essential work they do each day in partnership with children’s hospitals, medical teams, and families. And thank you, Ronnie, for lighting the way.
