Educator Journey — Chapter 6

Get Started

Bringing this into your studio can begin with a single step.

There is no complex setup, and no need to wait for the “right time.”

Most teachers begin simply—by introducing the idea to one or two students.

A Simple Way to Begin

You don’t need to launch this across your entire studio at once.

Instead, you might:

  • Think of one student who would benefit from this experience
  • Introduce the idea in a lesson or conversation
  • Share the opportunity with their family

From there, participation grows naturally.

Many studios find that once a few students begin, others become interested as they hear about the experience.

What Happens Next

When a student is ready to begin, families complete a simple Junior Program membership application, where they also indicate their private teacher.

  • The student enrolls in the program
  • They begin participating in outreach performances
  • You verify their participation when needed
  • VMA tracks progress and provides recognition

The process is designed to be straightforward for both you and your students.

Verification and Support

To support the process, VMA provides a Resources Portal with simple tools for students, families, and teachers.

This includes a concert completion report, which is used to confirm student participation in outreach performances.

Teachers and parents may also upload photos of performances, helping document and celebrate the student’s experience.

Parents remain responsible for their child’s participation and supervision during outreach activities.

Teachers are not required to attend performances— their role is simply to verify participation when submitted.

These systems are designed to keep the process clear, flexible, and supportive for everyone involved.

You Are Not Doing This Alone

As your students begin, VMA supports the process behind the scenes.

This includes:

  • Program structure and guidance
  • Tracking and verification systems
  • Awards and recognition
  • Resources for students and families

You remain focused on your teaching— while your students gain access to something more.

Growing Over Time

There is no expectation for immediate scale.

Some studios begin with just a few students, while others gradually build a larger presence.

Over time, this can become a meaningful part of your studio culture— something students look forward to and take pride in.

But it always begins in a simple way.

Begin When You’re Ready

If this feels aligned with your teaching and your students, you can begin at any time.

There is no complex onboarding required for teachers to begin.

Just a conversation, a moment of encouragement, and a willingness to introduce something meaningful.

If this feels aligned with your teaching, you’re invited to take the next step.

Educators who are interested in bringing this into their studio can share their information to become part of our Circle of Educators.

This is simply a way to stay connected, receive updates, and begin exploring how this can fit naturally into your studio.

When you're ready to introduce this to families, you can also share the Junior Program page with them:
