Building Momentum at MTNA: Connecting with Educators Across the Country

At this year’s Music Teachers National Association Conference, Jonathan represented the Volunteer Musicians for the Arts as an exhibitor, engaging in meaningful conversations with educators from across the country, including Virginia Beach, Fort Worth, Naperville, Cincinnati, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Madison, Louisville, San Antonio, and beyond. A consistent theme emerged: educators recognized the VMA framework as a natural and valuable extension of their existing studios. While building relationships with teachers nationwide will take time, this experience affirmed that it begins with conversation—understanding whether our mission resonates strongly enough for educators to introduce the program to families. As we know, when a teacher believes in what we’re doing, families are far more likely to take that first step. Being surrounded by dedicated professionals who see the value in service-based music education was both energizing and deeply validating.

“Such a beautiful organization! Just amazing! This work grows more and more important with each passing day.”
