Building a Stage Where Every Musician Matters

“I met with the offices of Rep. Auchincloss, Rep. Clark, and Rep. Trahan, as well as the offices of Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Ed Markey, and talked a bit about the importance of supporting us young folk, and they definitely agreed! Here are some pictures with the VMA officer pin.” - Felix Wang, VMA State Senator of Massachusetts

Nearly 15 years ago, this journey began with a simple passion for social justice. Today, it has grown into a national movement empowering young musicians to serve their communities through music.

At the Volunteer Musicians for the Arts, we believe every student deserves to know they matter—not just on stage, but in the lives they touch. Through outreach performances and student-led initiatives, musicians are becoming leaders, bringing music into spaces where it can uplift and connect.

Our student government reflects this mission in action. It gives young musicians a voice, a sense of ownership, and a deeper purpose in their work.

Students like Felix remind us what’s possible when musicians are empowered to lead.

You are needed on every stage.
