From Member to Founder: A San Diego Student Starts a VMA Club
Looking forward to Arthur’s continued involvement in his community and the VMA.
Arthur is a passionate student musician from San Diego who exemplifies the type of student we hope to engage in the Volunteer Musicians for the Arts Junior Program—one who takes initiative to lead through service. After joining VMA, Arthur was inspired not only to participate, but to expand its impact by starting a VMA club in his community.
With experience performing in settings ranging from nursing homes to community ensembles, he understands the power of music to connect and uplift. By launching a club, Arthur is creating opportunities for fellow students to share their talents beyond the classroom. His leadership reflects our mission: turning musical practice into meaningful service and building communities where students use music to give back.
If you are an educator or parent who sees the value in this work and believes a student could benefit from leading a club, joining the Junior Program is the next step! The club nomination process takes just one minute, and our student leaders are happy to help you get started.
