A family in Arlington, Texas is a Friend of the VMA
A family can help a student start a VMA Club with a $50 gift as a Friend of the VMA in our Annual Giving Society. That initial gift helps create the foundation for a student-led club—just as Paris’ family has done.
Meet Paris, a high school member of the VMA Foundation Junior Program from Arlington, Texas.
Paris is a dedicated young musician and member of her school’s top orchestra. She also plays guitar, bringing another dimension to her love of music.
Now, Paris is taking the next step: turning her passion for music into an opportunity to serve her community.
Paris has founded a VMA student club with approximately eight students, bringing fellow young musicians together to explore how their music can serve others.
From Club Founder to Club Leader
Starting a VMA Club is a student-led process. Paris has brought her fellow students together and is now preparing for the club’s first outreach concert.
After completing an outreach concert, club founders can take on formal leadership roles such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary—moving from founding a club to leading it.
Families can help a student get started with a $50 gift as a Friend of the VMA. The gift can be made when completing the Junior Program application or whenever the student is ready to start a club. Like Paris’ family, that initial support helps provide a foundation for the club. From there, students take the lead through their own Sweet Sounds of Service fundraising and community service.
A Musical Journey With Purpose
The VMA Junior Program is about more than performing on a stage. It gives students the opportunity to use their musical talents to connect with their communities, develop character, and grow as young leaders.
For Paris, founding a club is just the beginning. We look forward to seeing her and her fellow students in Arlington turn their music into meaningful service—and watching Paris grow from club founder to club leader.
Whether she is performing with her orchestra, playing guitar, or bringing students together through her VMA Club, Paris represents what the Junior Program is all about: helping young musicians discover that their music can have a purpose beyond the recital hall.
