Our Mission Continues to Resonate Nationwide

A growing national community, united by music and service.

In less than two months, nearly 40 students from across the country have joined the VMA Foundation’s Junior Program! In October alone, our recruitment submissions have represented 11 states: California, Florida, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

The VMA Board is grateful, as always, to our Giving Society donors who helped us reach a broader audience beyond our Boston roots. Thank you!

We are delighted to welcome these young musicians and their families into a community built around service, stewardship, and leadership through music.

A special October welcome to Aaryan, Aiden, Aithan, Allison, Astele, Beatrice, Caroline, Harry, Eason, Esther, Giulianna, Herman, Irena, Jada, Kashuna, Laith, Nina, Penelope, Sadie, Theo, Vivian, Vishnu, Yanlin, and Zoey! We are delighted to welcome you and your families to our growing national community, where music becomes a way to serve others, develop leadership, and make a meaningful difference.

Among our newest members, Irena, from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has taken the initiative to establish a VMA student club that has already welcomed nine new members. As the club’s president, Irena is a seasoned veteran of performing at assisted living communities, and we can’t wait to share the good that she and her fellow student musicians will do with the broader VMA community. Yanlin, from Concord, Massachusetts, has also expressed a strong interest in taking on a leadership role. Both students bring valuable experience volunteering their musical talents in their communities, and we see tremendous promise in what they may accomplish through VMA.

I also had the privilege of meeting Caroline, a middle-school violinist from Edison, New Jersey, and Vishnu, a middle school student from McDonald, Pennsylvania, during the same virtual orientation call. Caroline and Vishnu were wonderful reminders of the remarkable young people joining our community.

If you’re looking for hope for the future, look no further than these talented and generous young people. They remind us that leadership doesn’t have to wait until adulthood—and that music can be a powerful way to make a difference today.

At the VMA Foundation, we believe music is more than a personal pursuit. It is an opportunity to connect with others, serve our communities, and make a difference. Whether through outreach concerts, student clubs, or support for charitable causes, young musicians can discover meaningful ways to put their talents to work for others.

We look forward to seeing what our newest members will accomplish as this national community continues to grow.

Welcome to the VMA family!

Give back. Play forward. Because everyone deserves orchestra seats.
