Witnessing the Miraculous: Summer Concert Series Students Shine
One Wingate Way and North Hill welcomed the VMA with open arms.
Have you seen my sunglasses because the future is so bright! The gentleman in the middle without a medal, Danny Pylee, conferred outreach service recognition medals to all the performers. As the graduating president of the Junior Program, he represents what it means to be a virtuous public servant, ceremoniously and symbolically passing the baton, raising up the next generation of talented, compassionate Junior Program members.
But Danny got a VMA duffel bag as he embarks on his next life chapter, studying astrophysics at Rice University in Houston, TX.
If we build it, they will come.
If you’ve ever seen the movie Field of Dreams, it pretty much sums up my belief that if you can dream it, you can build it. Actor Kevin Costner bulldozes acres of his family farm to build a baseball field and — spoiler alert — manages to make it all work out and come out on top. It’s got that 80s supernatural feel with spirits from the past playing on the baseball field, and the recurring hushed whisper from the corn fields — if you build it, they will come.
So, Junior members — what’s the VMA’s metaphorical baseball field? Where would you like to see the organization in the months and years ahead? Start with the question, “how can I be of service to the VMA and others?”
Members are welcome to join an open discussion with Jonathan and student government leaders on Sunday, July 12 at 2pm EST.
