A New Monthly Concert Series at Maplewood at Weston

Beginning this December, the VMA Foundation is excited to launch a new monthly concert series at Maplewood at Weston.

Each month, I will return to Maplewood to share music, spend time with residents, and build meaningful relationships with this wonderful community. These concerts are about more than simply performing. They are an opportunity to engage, listen, connect, and experience the ways music can bring people of different generations together.

More Opportunities for Young Musicians to Serve

Over the past year, many families have asked for more outreach performance opportunities for their children. This monthly series will help provide just that.

At each concert, a small number of VMA students will have the opportunity to join me as featured performers in a relaxed, welcoming assisted living setting. Rather than a large formal recital, students will perform in an intimate living-room environment where they can meet residents, share conversation, and experience the personal impact of their music.

For many young musicians, this may become an especially meaningful part of their musical journey. They will not simply walk onstage, perform, and leave. They will have the opportunity to connect with the people they are serving.

That is at the heart of the VMA mission: helping young musicians discover that their gifts can make a difference in the lives of others.

Growing Compassionate Leaders Through Music

We believe that leadership begins with learning to see and care for others.

By participating in outreach concerts, students can develop confidence as performers while also growing in empathy, communication, service, and compassion. A conversation with a resident, a familiar song that brings back a memory, or a simple moment of connection can remind a young musician that music has a purpose beyond the practice room.

This monthly partnership with Maplewood at Weston will create an ongoing opportunity for students to return, build relationships, and become part of a community.

Priority Registration for Annual Giving Society Patrons

As a special expression of appreciation for those who support our mission, Patrons of the Cynthia Yasuda Annual Giving Society receive priority advance registration for the monthly concert series.

Your contribution helps make programs like this possible while giving young musicians meaningful opportunities to grow as compassionate leaders through service.

When you support the VMA Foundation, you are investing not only in music education, but in the next generation of young people who will use their talents to serve others.

We look forward to beginning this new chapter in December and sharing many months of music, friendship, and community at Maplewood at Weston.
